I am so excited you are here! Welcome to Mama and Things!

I'm Lauren, a working teacher mama of two beautiful babes, Halle (3.5) and Hudson (1.5).The short version of me? Lover of good cheese (our yellow lab's name is Gouda), and psychological thrillers. Most of my closet is a shade of black, I'm always down for a glass of something cold, and could live in a lawn chair soaking in sun rays.

If you're still reading...we were meant to be! I promise you'll get to know more about me and life as I know it as our journey continues, but for now...let me tell you the "WHY" behind Mama and Things.

Being a mom..."the hardest and best job you'll ever have."

Sound familiar? Ain't it the truth? I absolutely LOVE my babes...and LOVE being their mama.

I knew there would be challenges...diapers, feeding, sleep. But the one that surprised me the most? Being able to discover who I am again beyond "working mom". What fills my cup?

This year I made a big shift. After 9 years teaching kindergarten and first grade I decided to step out of the classroom and am now an English Language Development Specialist for my district! Saying goodbye the classroom was difficult AND it has given me the brain space to slowly start to see what makes ME feel like ME.

I am MAMA...but I am also a lot of things too.

Wait..what was that? MAMA and THINGS...see what I did there ;).

So friends...here's what I know....

1. I LOVE TO WRITE. Words are my love language. I used to write creative raps for my friends in middle school..it was a thing.

2. I AM A PRODUCT SHARK. You know that friend you can count on to have the best make-up product, house tool, idea for....a lot of random things? Yeah that's me.

Whip those together and what do we have? The Mama and Things Blog. A place mamas can come to for stories that are sure to make you laugh and feel seen along with products that will bring smiles to your house, closet, babies and kids (fur included).
